Been battling the woodrats, who like to try to build nests in my engine compartment. This trap has been great at capturing them. Had to play around with the bait a bit and landed on shelled sunflower seeds. Works best when I place some in the cup and sprinkle more on the tip plate and surrounding area. Caught two last night and four this week. The kids like to take a peek. They also like that I drop off the woodrats safe and sound in the woods… on the other side of the freeway. Coyotes gotta eat too, ya know. Trap is sturdy, well made, easy to put together. Safe. Easy to use, but gotta be a little crafty in bait selection and trap placement. I like that it’s American made. Strong recommend.
It works wonders! I have been catching huge rodents and it just works as long as you follow the setup properly!
I received the trap a week ago and have already trapped two rats! I’m so pleased this trap actually works! My only complaint is that it would be helpful to have some instructions for how to get the rat out of the bucket—assuming you trap humanely. The trap is a bit top heavy and the lid will come off if it falls over. Packing tape fixed the issue, but maybe another pin or two to attach the top?

Everything came as ordered and assembly was literally a snap. Unfortunately, my first trapping event failed, although I'm not sure why. The trap was on the bucket solidly with the two pins holding it. I had seeds going up the ramp and along the trap up to the trap door. I put newspaper at the bottom of the bucket. When I checked later, the seeds were gone and the newspaper had been torn up. But there was no animal present. But, something must have got in, and somehow apparently must have got out. I'm wondering if it was a larger animal like a squirrel. Anyway, I will try again, and update the review if I get the expected results.
